Certifies paint cycles for interior surfaces. The durability aspect is attested by the compliance with performance requirements. In this way is also defined the intended use to which the paint cycle can be applied: kitchen furniture, bathroom furniture, living room furniture and bedrooms. The requirements include a further distinction between horizontal surfaces and vertical surfaces assuming that the former are more stressed than the latter. Novelty with respect to the CQA Interior Wood coating system cycle is the control of the safety aspect, through the assessment of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), and of sustainability, through an LCA study on the life cycle of the product itself.

How it works. Obtaining the label is subject to compliance with:

• performance requirements defined by the CQA certification regulations for paint cycles;
• chemical safety requirements borrowed from EC Regulation 1272/2008 (CLP). The emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) is evaluated with the test chamber test;
• sustainability requirements evaluated using the standardized and internationally recognized LCA approach and compared with wood coatings benchmarks from PEFCR. The LCA study is carried out following PEFCR guidelines and considering impact categories such as; "Climate change," "Resource use fossil," and "Eutrophication freshwater" to account for the environmental impacts of the product.

The certification certificate lasts for 4 years. CATAS inspectors visit the company site annually to inspect and take product samples that are subsequently subjected to laboratory testing.
