It certifies the performances of coating systems for the protection of wood for outdoor use, according to the joint CATAS - WKI certification scheme, which is the result of our long-standing collaboration with the Fraunhofer WKI Institute in Braunschweig. The coating cycles are subjected to a specific test program and evaluated in accordance with the relevant technical standards (EN 927). Additional verifications, such as the assessment of the effectiveness against biological aggression, the evaluation of stacking and the permeability to light, make the product certification a comprehensive verification tool that covers all the main technical characteristics typically required for these products.
How it works. CATAS inspectors visit the company site annually to inspect and take product samples. The samples collected are applied and then subjected to the required laboratory tests. The main test is 2 years of natural weathering, carried out simultaneously in Italy, at Catas, and in Germany, at the WKI Institute.
The company is required to carry out internal controls per year for each type of certified cycle, in accordance with the regulations, and to send the results to CATAS.
